SMS messaging and consent
How text messaging works, and the consent rules that keep you compliant.
Hunt Outfitter supports two kinds of text messages, and they follow different consent rules. Getting this right keeps you compliant with TCPA (US) and CASL (Canada).
Transactional texts
Operational messages — booking confirmations, payment reminders, document notifications, and hunt reminders — go to registered users who have turned on SMS in their notification preferences. These are off by default and are not marketing.
Marketing texts to leads
Promotional messages (trip offers, updates) may only be sent to leads who gave express consent by checking the SMS consent box on your lead-capture form. The platform records when and how each lead consented, and only sends marketing SMS to leads who opted in.
Marketing SMS will not send to a lead who hasn't explicitly consented — this is enforced for you, by design. Never import phone numbers and text them without a recorded opt-in.
Opting out
Recipients can reply STOP to unsubscribe from any message, or HELP for help, at any time. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.
Marketing SMS becomes available once your outfit's text-messaging number completes carrier verification. Until then, SMS steps are skipped automatically.
